Online Gambling Laws in New Zealand
New Zealand is currently a burgeoning gambling market. Millions of residents take part in some form of gambling activity everyday, and the population of recreational gamblers has been growing rapidly over the course of the past few years. While the land-based gaming market is seeing a great deal of growth, so is the online casino market. However, the laws regulating online gambling in New Zealand can be quite complex, so here is a brief overview of legality of online gaming in the country New Zealand's online gambling laws are regulated under the Gambling Act 2003, along with all other forms of gambling in the country. Up until 2003, drunkall online gambling was not regulated by any laws, so the legislation is still quite new and residents believe there are still some kinks to work out. According to the Act, remote interactive gambling is prohibited. This applies only to gambling that is organized or conducted within New Zealand. Offshore operators can face fines for offering their services to residents of the country, but few have been prosecuted by local authorities. Some local online gambling operators are able to offer their services online, including TabCorp, a gaming operator which has a near-monopoly on gambling in Australia and New Zealand. The advertisement of offshore online casinos is also prohibited. Therefore, gambling companies which are not based in New Zealand may not advertise their services to residents. This includes sports sponsorships and television commercials, as well as in-print and online advertisements. Recognizing that New Zealanders are keen to take part in online gambling, the government has decided to allow some forms of online wagering to take place. It has recently been decided that players would be allowed to play the local lottery online. NZ Lotto has launched its own online gambling website, so that players can purchase all sorts of lottery products online. The website also offers online bingo and keno, adding to the range of choices that players have when it comes to gambling legally online. NZ Lotto's website is a huge step forward for the country's online gambling market; however, residents would still like to have more choice when it comes to playing casino games online. There are some exceptions to the rules, however. The New Zealand government has stated that some cases of online gambling that may be disputed. As such, the local gaming commission would have to assess these situations on a case-by-case basis to ensure that players and operators across the country are receiving fair and safe treatment in the online gaming world.
Hello and welcome to the second part of our WW3 diaries. We hope you have had a happy, healthy holiday season. The Rising Sun While the Allies and Soviets were fighting, the forces of Reaction were watching, waiting for their opportunity to strike. The African League, a collection of Nationalistic dictatorships lead by Ethiopia’s Haille Salessie, met in secret with the Japanese, now known as the Empire of the Rising Sun. Along with certain right wing backers from Europe, a plan was forged to enter the war and forever snuff out the flames of Democracy and Communism. This plan would result in the creation of the Axis of Authority. Japan, the most powerful Axis nation, dreamed of world conquest based on Emperor Yoshiro’s dream of Japanese Destiny. Having fought in WW2 on the side of the Allies for the sake its Korean possession, the Empire retreated into Isolation right after. Ten years later, their march forth with their army of Mechas (aided by the Psychic Yuriko) would begin. The League, for its part, simply wanted the Allies and Soviets expelled from Sub-Saharan Africa. On New Year’s eve 1965, Japanese forces led by Japan’s head Shogun, Shinzo Nagama and Shiro Kamina lead a force that infiltrated the Naval Base at Vorkuta along with Shinobi Ninjas and destroyed the Skeleton Fleet there, making way for the landings. Soon all of Siberia had fallen with Vladviostok completely surrounded. Meanwhile Prince Tatsu’s prototype Mecha, the Shogun Executioner was smuggled into Odessa and went on a horrific rampage that haunts the Union and the world to this day, completely destroying the city before the Soviets could destroy it. The Soviets held up a furious defense at both Leningrad and Stalingrad. Leningrad would hold the line until the Empire withdrew in April while Imperial Forces abandoned their assault on Stalingrad in February. Concurrently, South Korea would initiate an invasion of North Korea with Japanese assistance and would overrun the DMZ in a matter of hours. Within a few weeks the Imperial and Joseon forces would set upon Pyongyang. However, North Korean General Park Kang “The Beast” Dae organized a desperate defense of the city with the help of his elite commandos “The Bloody 9th” and the city would hold against the imperial advance. While the Empire was attacking the Soviets, their forces also had their eyes set on the Allies. Ignoring China, the Empire overran the Philippines in short order followed by Cambodia. By March, the main assaults had begun with Thailand and Australia, the two major Allied countries in the region. In Australia, the Empire unleashed one of its massive Floating Fortresses Menji to attack and support the invasion force at Darwin. By April 1965, the decision was made by the Australians to fall back to Brisbane, while Thailand and New Zealand would soon fall. With Darwin in their possession, the Japanese would begin landing their own settlers in a process known as Nissanization, an idea pioneered by Prime Minister Nobosuke Kishii. The onslaught was so sudden even North and South Vietnam agreed to a ceasefire to defend their nations. A Great Crusade Allied Forces at this point were comfortable striking back at the Soviets. Invasion plans were put together and on June 6, 1965, American Peacekeeper Col. Edward Hill would launch his “Great Crusade” at Normandy. Little did anyone know the nefarious trap that Cherdenko would set. Cherdenko had numerous squadrons of Badger class bombers prepared with a chemical weapon known as Defoliant, basically Insecticides on Steroids, ready to strike down on the Marines landing on the beach. While some were shot down in the air, the Beaches of Normandy would soon become toxic but other landings in the area would succeed. Overall the Soviets, despite their gamble, are overrun. Simultaneously, numerous Allied officials are rescued from Cannes where a good portion of the Command had gone underground during the Molniya, including Supreme Commander Robert Bingham. By September 1965, the order was given to retake Paris. However the entrenchment of the Soviets resulted in a bloody battle, and the result was the destruction of most of the city, including the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe. The Cuban Kirov Crisis On October 7, 1965, ACIN was alerted that a secret Kirov base had been built in Cuba and that Kirovs carrying Vacuum Imploders [remember Nukes aren’t a thing yet] and were heading for Miami and other cities. Luckily, Infinite Realms’ prototype Achilles Fighter was deployed and destroyed 3 of the 4 Kirovs although an imploder detonated off the coast of Miami. Major Giles Price of the Peacekeepers and Alex Manning oversaw the counter attack which quickly saw the fall of the Communist regime and the Castro brothers were cryofrozen. The American operative Tanya Adams would quickly track down Che Guevara in Bolivia and ensure he got “a Bolivian Army Ending” which would be a huge setback for Latin Communism. Not to be outdone by the Peacekeepers, Ranking House Intelligence Committee member Nicholas S. Laramore used the fall of Cuba as a recruiting tool to reach out to the Cuban American community and successfully got journalist Giraldo Rivera installed as Governor along with the Union Party’s first Latina Regional Commissioner Tonia Tecerro as Lt. Governor. They would invite rebels such as William A. Morgan, Eloy G. Menoyo, and Eduardo Arocena (the latter of whom would be put in charge of hunting Communists on the island) into the Cuban government. One of Laramore’s goals was to use the occupation of Cuba as an eventual testing ground for the party’s Civil Defense Units which were still being developed in the early stages. Furthermore, Laramore reached out to right wing leaders in Latin America including Chilean Air Force General Augusto Pinochet, Argentinian President Jorge Rafael Videla, Col. Omar Torrijos as well as then-Minister-of-War Artur Costa Da Silva of Brazil. Both of the later would eventually join the Allies as a result and the former would take more immediate actions that would plunge the Southern Cone into a state of war. The Combine Shines The Japanese would make probing attacks into South America as well, sending an invasion force to take the Galapagos Islands but find themselves countered by the Technocratic Combine’s new navy. The Combine, not having relations with either the Allies or Soviets since indirectly fighting them 2 years prior, went to war with the Empire on their own to defend their islands. They would prevail against the Imperial offensive though they lacked the ability to retaliate in the Pacific. Bless the Rains down in Africa Meanwhile, in Africa, the forces of the League (led by Idi Amin and Jonas Savimbi) deployed against the Portuguese Colony of Mozambique as well as Rhodesia, the Union of Socialist African Republics, the mostly privatized Congo, and the Allied States of South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. The Rhodesians begrudgingly let the Allies use their airspace meanwhile the Congo relied on Mercenaries from the Italian PMC Legion Security. Mozambique would fall in short order but the lines began to stall elsewhere. Japanese territory in dark orange. Can we stop playing the blame game over the coronavirus?
This is a piece I wrote myself recently. I have tried to make it balanced to appeal to people less sceptical than ourselves. I hope people enjoy it anyway. My nearest city, Nottingham, is set for Tier 3 restrictions next week. While reading an article in relation to this on the Nottingham Post, a comment made by the Labour MP for Nottingham South, Lilian Greenwood, stood out. It blamed the Government for not getting the virus under control. Now, there are plenty of legitimate criticisms you can aim at the Government over the way they have handled this crisis, but this whole notion that this virus can be controlled is utterly ridiculous. My personal phrase of choice is “virus is going to virus”. Greenwood’s comment is at best ignorant, at worst it is crass political opportunism. We are seeing a resurgence throughout Europe. Even in Germany, where there have been significantly less coronavirus deaths per capita than any other highly populated country in Europe, numbers are starting to rise significantly. Other coronaviruses are largely seasonal, and this is no exception. On the 21st October, the United Kingdom saw 26,688 cases and 191 deaths reported. The total population of the UK is roughly 67 million. Let’s compare this to some other countries on a per capita basis using the information available on Worldometers. Country Approximate Population Cases (capita adjusted amount in brackets) Deaths (capita adjusted in brackets) Netherlands 17,500,000 8,743 (33,473) 59 (226) France 67,000,000 26,676 (26,676) 163 (163) Spain 47,000,000 16,973 (24,196) 156 (222) Czech Republic 10,750,000 8,841 (55,102) 100 (623) Apologies for the poor presentation- couldn't get the table to copy and paste properly, but hopefully it is clear anyway! All of these countries have implemented different policies. The Czech Republic locked down before the virus really had a chance to do significant damage, which is the most likely explanation for why it has seen such a big resurgence- the daily deaths now are actually much higher than they were at any point in March and April. France and Spain saw similar first waves to the United Kingdom and have followed the same patterns in terms of cases and deaths. The Netherlands was slightly less severely hit in the first wave, but has largely followed the exact same trajectory. Yes, these are difficult times. It is understandable that people need someone or something to blame. It is wrong though, to apportion the blame to people not following the rules or “anti-maskers”. There was non-compliance from some even at the height of lockdown, VE day, the beaches and the protests, but all metrics dropped significantly by June. Furthermore, Spain has adopted widespread mandatory mask usage since May both inside and outside, nonetheless, they had more deaths on a per capita basis than the United Kingdom on the 21st of October and a higher death toll per million people. France has also implemented more mask mandates in the last two to three months, to no avail. Unfortunately, despite the Government implementing these non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) to try and do something to slow down the spread, they have little effect. Unfortunately, politicians’ main priority is simply covering their own backsides. If they were honest, they would say only a lockdown can bring cases down, but also make the point, rightly, that the collateral damage a second lockdown would do is far greater than the damage the virus would be prevented from doing. That said, it appears increasingly likely that there will be a second lockdown in England that will last for a minimum of two weeks. It is also disingenuous to make comparisons with countries such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and New Zealand which have successfully kept cases and deaths extremely low. There is good reason to believe there are several factors that are of great significance for why the Asian countries in question have done so well. Firstly, there is far less obesity in these countries- research suggests that obesity significantly increases mortality and the risk of hospitalisation. Secondly, while I acknowledge that this is not empirically proven, it is very likely that there are higher levels of pre-existing immunity to coronaviruses in the population, after all, SARS and MERS both were largely restricted to Asian countries. Thirdly, the contact tracing in South Korea and Taiwan is far more intrusive than would be acceptable in Western countries, and thus more effective. As for New Zealand, they are an isolated island with a population that is less than 10% of the UK. They have effectively shut their borders. Ultimately, they have no endgame except gambling on an effective vaccine, as the second they open up to the outside world, they have a population that will be susceptible. Europe has tried to suppress this virus. Europe has failed. It is looking increasingly likely that even if a vaccine does end up being approved and distributed widely next year, it will not provide any long term sterilising immunity. It is time for European governments to stop displaying extraordinary arrogance and incompetence by doubling down on arbitrary, ineffective restrictions, and to accept that an endemic virus cannot be defeated. To be clear, this is not an endorsement of life going back to what it was in February 2020, nor an attempt to downplay the virus. What is clear, however, is that there only so much that can be done to control nature. It is time for a different approach that takes into account all facets of public health, rather than this tunnel vision like focus on coronavirus. Below are three potential recommendations to help achieve this. 1) We know the risk is significantly lower outdoors, so why not allow spectators to attend sporting events at reduced capacity, even is that is 25% or 33%? This could work for football by a combination of season ticket holders and fans being selected from a raffle system for the remaining tickets. For other sports, it could be that you do it on a first come, first served basis, and allow a maximum of two adults in a group. To allow families to attend, you would also be able to purchase unlimited U12 tickets. Spectator sport can bring some normality and joy to people's lives. Bring it back. 2) Ditch the 10PM closing time for pubs and bars. It has absolutely no merit to it whatsoever and simply serves to encourage more mixing in private households, potentially while intoxicated, while simultaneously hurting a hospitality industry that has very unfairly been made a scapegoat recently. 3) Moving away from the increasingly authoritarian way of enforcing the rules and moving towards a voluntary approach. To give an example, a measure such as the “rule of six” should not be enforceable by law, and it is ridiculously arbitrary that U12s are not exempt. Spending time with family and friends is extremely important for mental well-being. The government should instead recommend best practises in these situations, such as using hand sanitiser, making sure not to have any such gatherings if someone in any of the households meeting is even slightly sick, and not staying in close contact for too long with people, especially if they are in a vulnerable group. By contrast, to legally say a family of six that children cannot meet their grandparents, is a morally unjust encroachment of people's private lives. Loneliness kills too.

Good morning. New Zealand has its general election this year. In the past I have voted for the Labour Party (centre-left) because I mostly like their social and economic policies. However, earlier this year they liberalised New Zealand’s abortion laws. Prior to this it was difficult, though unfortunately not impossible, to get an abortion in New Zealand. Now, it is provided on demand at any point up to 20 weeks. I would like to commit to never voting for Labour again, unless they turn 180 degrees and revoke this liberalisation. However, where I turn to now is more difficult to figure out. The National Party (centre-right) is New Zealand’s other main party. I can live with most of their economic and social policies. However, with regards to abortion many of their MPs voted for liberalisation. They simply have the virtue of not being the majority party while it was passed. Minor parties are not much better. I like aspects of the social and economic policies of both New Zealand First and the Māori Party. However, two NZ First MPs voted for liberalisation (seven against) and while the Māori Party did not have MPs in parliament this term, their website states that they are pro-choice. Furthermore, these two minor parties will form a government with either the National or Labour Party in order to achieve policy priorities, so a vote for either has a 50% chance of being a back door vote for Labour. There are other, even more minor parties that are pro life. I’m not sure what their other social and economic policies are and, to be honest, there is only a minuscule chance they will gain either 10,000 votes to get a party seat or win a single electorate. Essentially, I would be voting for a three legged donkey to win the Melbourne Cup. How do you think I should vote? Is it enough to punish the party that allowed liberalisation to go through and vote National? Should I vote for a minor party (likely NZ First with their 7/9 MPs voting no) and take the gamble that they will form a government with the National Party? Or should I find a tiny pro life party with no shot of getting into parliament and vote for them as a way of protesting the liberalisation of abortion? Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
Do You Have to Pay Taxes on Slot Machine Winnings?
We all love to read stories about big wins and imagine ourselves in the shoes of those winners. But, have you ever thought about what happens at that very moment after successfully beating the slot machine? Usually, the slot machine locks up and, in most cases, you hear the music and see the flashing lights on top of the machine. But one of the first questions every player asks is whether they have to pay taxes on casino winnings? Well, you’re about to find out!
Taxes on Slot Machine Winnings in USA
In the USA, when a lucky player hits a jackpot, there’s the option of receiving the winnings in cash or check. In case it’s a large sum, it’s usually paid by check. However, the IRS only obliges the casinos to report winnings that are larger than $1,200. Of course, all winners are obliged to show a proper identification— a valid ID or passport. When the casino checks for your identification they also look at your age to make sure you are officially and legally old enough to play. As the minimum legal age for gambling varies from state to state, be sure to check it out before you decide to play.
Do I Have to Report All Winnings?
All gambling winnings received from slot machines are subject to federal taxes, and both cash and non-cash winnings (like a car or a vacation) are fully taxable. Apart from slot machines, the same applies to winnings from lottery, bingo, keno, poker or other games of chance. So, if the amount won on a slot machine is higher than $1200, the casino is required to report it. In other words, all your gambling winnings have to be reported on your tax return as "other income" on Schedule 1 (Form 1040), line 8.
Slot Machine Winnings in W-2G Form
In case it happens to you and you snag that big win (which we hope one day you will), it’s useful to know that casino or other payer must give you a W-2G Form, listing your name, address and Social Security number. So, if the winnings are reported through a W-2G Form, federal taxes will be withheld at a rate of 25%. If, however, you didn’t provide your Social Security number (or your Tax Identification Number), in that case the withholding will be 28%. Either way, a copy of your Form W-2G should be issued, showing the amount you won alongside the amount of tax withheld. One copy needs to go to the IRS, as well. Aside from slot winnings, Form W-2G is issued to winners of the following types of gambling activities like:
bingo (for players who win $1,200 or more),
keno (for at least $1,500 worth wins)
poker tournament players (for the $5,000 win or more).
a horse track (if the winnings are 300x your bet)
However, not all gambling winnings are subject to IRS Form W2-G. For instance, W2-G forms are not required for winnings from table games like blackjack, baccarat, and roulette, whatever the amount. You’d still have to report your winnings to the IRS, it’s just you won’t need to do it through W-2G Form.
Are My Slot Losses Deductible?
The good news is that you can deduct your slot losses (line 28 of Schedule A, Form 1040), while the bad news is gambling losses are deductible only up to the amount of your wins. In other words, you can use your losses to compensate for your winnings. So, let’s say you won $200 on one bet, but you lost $400 on one or a few others, you can only deduct the first $200 of losses. Meaning if you didn’t win anything for a year, you won’t be able to deduct any of your gambling losses. In order to prove your losses, you need to keep good records and have suitable documents. So, whenever you lose, keep those losing tickets, cancelled checks and credit slips. Your documentation must include the amount you won or lost, a date and time, type of wager, type of your gambling activity, name of each casino/address of each casino you visited and the location of their gambling business. You may as well list the people who were with you.
Do State and Local Taxes Apply Separately?
Yes, you are required to pay your state or local taxes on your gambling winnings. In case you travel to another state, and snag some huge winning combo there, that other state would want to tax your winnings too. But don’t worry, you won't be taxed twice, as the state where you reside needs to give you a tax credit for the taxes you pay to that other state. Keep in mind though that some states like Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Ohio don't allow gambling losses.
Online Slot Taxes
Whether you usually spin the reels of your favourite casino games in land-based casinos in the US, overseas casinos, or online casinos, all income for the citizens of the US is taxable. As a US citizen, you are required to send Form W2G for all winnings from a slot machine (not reduced by the wager) that equals to or is more than $1,200.
Taxes on Slot Machine Winnings in UK
As a resident of the United Kingdom, your gambling winnings won’t be taxed. Unlike the USA mentioned above, you’ll be allowed to keep whatever it is that you have won and earned in Britain, even in case you are a poker pro. Then again, you won’t be able to deduct any losses you might collect. It doesn’t really matter if you win £5 or £5 million playing online slots, your winnings will be tax-free as long as you reside anywhere in the UK, be that in England, Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland.
Taxes on Slot Machine Winnings in Canada
If you are a recreational player who lives in Canada, we have good news for you. When it comes to gambling, you don't have to pay taxes as your winnings are totally tax free. According to laws in Canada, gambling activities don’t fall under the category of constant source of income, therefore your winnings will not be taxed. Canadians don't even pay taxes on their lottery winnings. The only exception here are professional gamblers who make a living from betting and are, therefore, obliged to pay taxes. Keep in mind though, this is the current situation - laws in Canada change frequently, which may also include tax laws.
Taxes on Slot Machine Winnings in Australia
In case you reside in Australia and like to visit casinos from time to time, you’ll be happy to find out that your winnings in Australia will not taxed and here are 3 core reasons for that:
Gambling is not treated a profession (it's treated as a hobby)
The government doesn’t see profits from gambling activities as income, but as a result of good luck
The Australian government taxes casino operators and lottery organisers instead.
Of course, taxation varies from state to state.
Taxes on Slot Machine Winnings in New Zealand
Unlike in Australia, where even professional players can claim they are recreational, in New Zealand slot machine winnings (and any other winnings from casino games) are considered taxable income, in case the player has little income from other resources. But, apart from professional gambling, it is very unusual for winnings to be taxed in New Zealand. Most often, gambling is considered recreational and not income, so players can enjoy their gameplay as they do not have to pay taxes on their winnings.
Dhawra nguna dhawra Ngunawal. Honourable senators and members of the Parliament of Australia, ladies and gentlemen. I acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we meet, the Ngunawal people, and pay my respects to their elders, past and present, emerging leaders and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders gathered here today. On October the 11th, millions of Australians participated in the core ritual of democracy; an election. They voiced their thoughts, their opinions and their beliefs at the ballot box and declared that over the next three months, that they would like their honest, respectable aspirations to be backed and supported by the parliamentarians which they elected. It is through the core values shared by Australians, that my government will seek to succeed in their aspirations to make a greater Australia for all. Australia is a great nation and it is forever enlightening to know that my government is one which upholds the values of freedom and will seek to bolster the personal and economic potential of each and every Australian. The tenets of freedom includes our ability to engage in thought, worship, speech, association and choice — the inalienable rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness in our humane society. In preserving our species, my government will seek to protect the right to life at all stages — before birth, childhood, working age and retirement. During pregnancy, my government seeks to ensure that parental consent is involved, that the life of the prospective child is held in high regards under law and that the government recognises 21st century developments in contraception, which we embrace. Our children are the future, and my government will seek to protect Australia’s children from child abuse and sex crimes by harshening penalties for such crimes. My government wishes to preserve the value of life, through changing criminal punishment to reflect the societal value placed on life. By pushing for gender equality and pushing to close the gap between Aborigines and wider Australia through job creation, healthcare investment and the preservation of equal opportunity, my government will truly be one for all Australians. Marriage is an institution for the private sector and my Government will seek to remove the government from marriage completely; reforming all current marital benefits to ‘civil unions’. Nearly two thirds of Australians are religious, and my government will seek to ensure that religious discrimination is eliminated in Australia, however my government will also legislate to ensure that religion is treated equally under the law just as the wider community is. My government will restore private property rights, remove restrictions to rural landowners to the full utility of their land, and at no cost to the rural landowner, restore all farmland to rural landowners who have been compelled to sell or abandon their farms because they were made economically non-viable through unconstitutional laws. My government will also seek to improve the health and economic prosperity of Australians through the outlaw of daylight savings; a bureaucratic measure which pains millions of Australians. My government is one which believes in the separation of powers and decentralisation; government is as government does. Through granting Australians equal rights under the eyes of fair legal frameworks, the freedom of the people to change this framework is key to ensuring a humane democracy. Thus, my government is committed to ending the war against West Wimmerans — we will deliver on a referendum for West Wimmera statehood and allow for their voices to be heard and their chains to be unshackled. Government's role is to nurture and encourage Australians through incentive rather than to burden through bureaucracy. My government is one that will fondle the private sector and facilitate growth, rather than to compete with them as businesses and individuals are the true creators of wealth and employment. Through competitive enterprise and consumer choice, Australia can truly become a strong nation which rewards the tireless hours and hard efforts Australians put in at work, each and every day. Jobs and Growth is what my government believes in and will pursue this outcome through a focus on promoting Australia’s goods and services. The minerals industry is a prevalent one in Australia, yet we do not process and refine them here in Australia. We know that what Australia makes, makes Australia. My government will be pursuing the Hydrogen Steel plan to create over 25,000 jobs and $65 billion in annual exports as a result of renewable powered steel production. My government will create jobs through a compulsory “Work for the Dole” program, with participants transferred to a job guarantee program with employers being paid the equivalent of Newstart for each new full-time employee. The WorkChoices Apprenticeship scheme will return to encourage blue-collar employment to boost youth employment, whilst Trade Support Loans will also be introduced to back loans for new apprentices. My government will boost investment in Australia through an extension of trade, superannuation reforms, industry regulation changes and home ownership policy. It will be mandated that superannuation is to be invested in Australia only, with super access allowed for home loan deposits and the age limit for compulsory super payments to be abolished to fight ageism in the workplace. With the fast-track completion of the Inland Rail Project and new deep-water ports to be constructed on the eastern seaboard, along with free-trade zones around logistics hubs, our trade will be immensely boosted to support growth in various Australian industries. Our industries will also be strengthened with the bans on fracking, online gambling, alcohol advertising to be lifted; whilst post stamps and palm oil are further regulated. Home ownership is a priority for my government, with a cap on all housing developments sold to foreigners, a cap on negative gearing and tax deductions on home loans interest payments. It is also apparent that industry reforms are necessary to protect workers and our economy. My government will strengthen unions and workers rights with a return of the ABCC and laws which ensure that unions and union leaders are given the same treatment as corporations and company directors. Australian Banks will also no longer get a free pass under my Government, as unfair penalty fees are banned and agricultural loans are regulated. Mass tax reforms will unleash the shackles of the economy, with a variety of tax changes to occur. My government intends to slash the corporate, income, capital gains, fuel, alcohol, tobacco, fringe-benefits and luxury car taxes over the upcoming financial year, whilst removing electricity supply from GST and returning gas royalties to the Commonwealth. Over $40 billion will be returned to the Australian people directly, along with boosted wages, jobs, investment and economic growth. My Government is committed to developing massive infrastructure projects around the country, beginning with the proposed City of Sada in South Australia. My Government is also committed to expanding communication lines, wireless network towers, and satellite coverage for rural Australians. In addition, it is committed to expanding irrigation projects, dams, artificial bodies of water, and other agriculture aids. We will also introduce a revolutionary plan that would increase the country's water storage by double, effectively ending drought through ambitious projects, such as continuing the New Bradfield Scheme and a multi-stage Mountain Mob Plan. My Government is also ensuring the expansion of the Commonwealth’s road and railroad systems to connect more people across the country at a faster pace, especially with heavy investment into light rail. My government is committed to providing high quality infrastructure and transport to all Australians. In an increasingly urbanised Australia, we need to ensure that rural areas are not left behind in infrastructure and transport planning, and ensuring that all of Australia is given the infrastructure it needs to thrive. The encouragement and facilitation of wealth so that all may enjoy the highest possible standards of living, health, education and social justice, is essential in creating equal opportunities for all Australians. My Government is committed to ending the COVID-19 pandemic in our country once and for all, and it is committed to fund the resources needed to win this war. My Government will amend the Emergency Government Control and Streamlining of Industry Act 2020 to reincorporate the definition of a public health crisis as the original version contained in order to be able to implement the provisions of the Act for this pandemic emergency. Improving healthcare is a priority for my government who will seek to reduce the Medicare levy threshold for senior Australians, phase down Lifetime Health Cover and the Medicare Levy Surcharge, include dental care within medicare coverage, increase general access to psychologists, establish photographic identity on medicare cards, promote a competitive market among savings accounts providers including transparency with respect to fees, operating expenses and remuneration of trustee and promote comparison shopping by requiring health, disability and aged care providers to publish price lists. My Government is dedicated to the advancement of this nation’s education systems and standards, while also maintaining a sound economic approach towards education. My government will commit to implementing a National School Health Plan in this nation, to ensure that the next generation of our children will grow up with proper fitness levels and proper nutrition. My government will also implement a Teaching Excellence Scholarship program for all students who earn above 80 in the ATAR, with the provision that they are to qualify as and work as teachers in an Australian government school for a set period of time. This will be combined with an advertising program and structural reforms to teaching rolls in education institutions to encourage more high school graduates to engage in Bachelors of Education. My government will also roll back some of the free university programs in this nation, to ensure the proper funding of all facets of education in this nation. The program will remain free for those coming from households earning a combined $90,000 dollars or less, with the reintroduction of HECS fees for those who fall above that line. My Government is committed to providing capacities for law enforcement on the local, State, and Federal levels to deal with criminal affairs, counter-narcotic operations, counter-insurgency and riot control operations, and counterterrorism operations. My Government is also committed to reforming all law enforcement departments within the nation, whether they be local forces, State forces, or the Australian Federal Police and other Commonwealth policing forces, by strengthening the Australian Commission on Law Enforcement Integrity, reforming the training and education aspect of policing and police recruitment, and preventing police unions from holding a major grasp on the judicial system and freeing thousands of police officers who commit crimes against the people. Australia has a constructive role to play in maintaining world peace and democracy through alliance with other free nations, which is met through maintaining our strong alliances with nations that share our values of freedom, democracy and productive international discourse. My Government is boosting Australia’s international relations while maintaining our moral integrity as a nation that respects the sovereignty of others. We will continue to be active members of the United Nations and other international organisations. My Government will expand Australia’s role as the largest nation in the Pacific region and secure good ties and alliance treaties with our neighbours, particularly New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and others. We will also increase and improve our diplomatic and economic relations with the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, India, and Japan to ensure Australia is not reliant on one nation for trade any longer. My Government is also committed to combating the dangerous influence of the People’s Republic of China and holding them to account for their actions in Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Wuhan in all the international forums possible and continue to call for an international investigation of the COVID-19 outbreak and the causes thereof, especially in relation to the Chinese government. My Government is also seeking to expand relations with the nations of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue to provide better relations with each other and engage in mutual alliances in defence, trade, infrastructure, student exchange programmes, and many other actions. My Government is committed to returning all Australian military personnel home from all active deployments abroad by Christmas. In addition, my Government is committed to the streamlining and upgrading of current military technologies in the defence industry without increasing spending to safeguard our nation’s defence more easily and, ultimately, reducing costs required for maintenance and replacement. My government is committed to stopping the deaths at sea, which are a result of mass boat arrivals. My government strives to turn back boats at sea, and prevent further people smuggling operations in Australia. My government will protect the Australian people and crackdown on trafficking. My government will strengthen migration character requirements and ensure that all migrants are assessed equally. In preserving Australia's natural beauty and the environment for future generations, my government seeks to establish the Green Australia Scheme Commission to regulate the programmes of the Green Australia Scheme which will plant over 30 million new trees and form 3 new national parks. My government will abolish the carbon tax, which is expected to kill off nearly 100,000 jobs; and replace it with a market-based, cap and trade Emissions Trading Scheme. My government will exterminate poisonous species of fish, such as carp, in our waterways with controlled herpes and spur economic growth in regional communities to upskill regional Australians and create vast job opportunities with a Regional Jobs and Investment Fund. I have the utmost confidence that my Government will deliver for Australians in this time of need, and that my Government will deliver what was previously specified to the best of their abilities. There will be a budget that will allow Australians to keep more of what they earn, and my Government will ensure that our tax plan is one that makes sense for the context of the Australian family. The excessive burden that past Governments have imposed on the Australian family must come to an end, and my Government’s formation marks the return of a previous crusade. My Government will also end the urban-rural divide, and my Government will seek to make Australia a more equitable place to live regardless of what region one finds themselves to reside in. As the President, I find myself in a position that warrants an alternative title of peacemaker, however peace must be upheld by all politicians in the land, and I instruct this Parliament to go forth and conduct their business in a civil manner and move forward from whatever feelings and emotion that the recent election may have espoused as one. Australia must be bold, be brave, and be grateful that regardless of whomever leads us that the institutions our forefathers handed down to us are in safe hands, now more than ever before. This upcoming parliament may be divided in houses, but we are a nation bound together by the common bond of mateship and adaptation. We will be tough when needed, but also compassionate and adaptable with change. I thank all honourable Senators and Members of Parliament for attending this momentous occasion. May the books of history look down upon each and every one of you favourably, may God guide your every path and may God bless Australia.
The remake of Disney’s hit animation has triggered pro-democracy and human rights protests in Hong Kong and around the world.
New Zealand locations shine in Disney's new Mulan trailer Shame on one of our own, the Kiwi director of Whale Rider, for helming this movie. How could the director go full corporate: from making Whale Rider, a ground-breaking film about Maori spirituality and indigenous culture, to slavishly making Mulan for a regime that is brutally stomping out indigenous rights and democracy in Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Mongolia? I am definitely boycotting the director Niki Caro from now, or should I call her the new Leni Riefenstehl.
It’s an understatement to say that a lot has happened since the trailer for Disney’s live-action Mulan was released last year, shortly after Hong Kong’s draconian national security law was passed without consultation or vote in June. The ongoing assault on democracy in Hong Kong has dominated international headlines, with the arrests of pro-democracy activists, newspaper editors and government legislators. On the face of it, the new Mulan is a missed opportunity for Hollywood to explore Chinese history and identity, a confused and superficial statement about Chinese nationalism. A hodgepodge of Chinese historical mise-en-scène, wuxia-style choreography, cheap orientalism and stilted dialogue, it’s also become a lightning rod for pro-democracy and human rights protests around the world. The film-makers made no secret that they were appeasing Chinese censors. In the Hollywood Reporter, it was made known that they went so far as to edit out a love scene. Other changes are more sinister. China has a tradition of “gǔ wéi jīn yòng” (“Use the past to serve the present”). The Mulan legend has been adapted many times, and the character’s origins have changed to suit. Historians largely agree that Mulan was a member of the proto-Mongolic Xianbei people, who lived in northern China in the 5th century. Over time her nomadic identity has been removed, and replaced with that of the dominant Han ethnicity. So claiming this new Mulan is an “authentic” version of the legend is especially ironic at a time when China is cracking down on Mongolian cultural identity alongside the imprisonment and “re-education” of Xinjiang Uighurs. However, controversy over this live-action Mulan really kicked off after the lead actor, Chinese-born naturalised-American “Crystal” Liu Yifei, declared her support for the Hong Kong police after they committed acts of brutality against Hong Kong protesters last year. This sparked the #BoycottMulan movement, which, on the film’s release last week, re-emerged in Taiwan, Thailand and Hong Kong, with ongoing protests in other countries. It has also emerged that the film was partly shot in Xinjiang. In a recent roundtable discussion, Disney’s chief creative officer Alan Horn evaded a question over the political implications of Liu’s comments, saying: “It’s not hard to offend somebody somewhere … we’re not political.” But whether Horn or Disney like it or not, the film has become political, and a symbol of Hollywood’s ongoing pandering to the CCP for funding and box office revenue despite the government’s human rights abuses. What made the original so great was the successful amalgamation of the commercial with the artistic. It did not attempt to be anything but a children’s film, a heart-warming tale of bravery and identity with universal appeal and a strong feminist message. This new adaptation was clearly produced to reap rewards at the Chinese box office and has ended up supporting the Chinese government’s aims. However, it is bogged down with its own glossy, pastiche depictions of ancient Chinese culture – in short, a bewildering piece of cinema, “as mysterious as the dark side of the moon”.

I am a Macedonian from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Macedonia. The Macedonian Mafia is a term used to describe illegal gangs and criminal organisations operating in my country Macedonia and within the Macedonian diaspora. Macedonian organized crime figures operate mostly in Europe and North America (countries such as Germany, Austria, United States, Canada, Monaco, Italy, France, Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, Switzerland, England, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Bulgaria are primarily favored by Macedonian organized crime figures for operating in or for forming partnerships with local organized crime groups, primarily from other Balkan or Eastern European countries as well as Italian syndicates, for their cultural, linguistic, ethnographic and geographical similarities as well as because of existing mutual ties between the organized crime groups or their members abroad and in the home countries, or the use of countries such was Switzerland, Monaco, Luxembourg and Cyprus for off-shore banking and money laundering), as well as Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Macedonian organized crime groups co-operate with other Balkan organized crime groups including the Serbian, Bulgarian and Albanian groups, both in the Balkans and in other places around the world, as well as the Italian mafia and the Russian mafia (through Bulgaria). Macedonian organized crime is usually centered around all types of legitimate businesses alongside typical organized crime activities such as smuggling, import and export, drug trafficking, extortion, arms trade, fraud, auto theft, racketeering, gambling, human trafficking, murder, contract killing, bodyguarding, prostitution and money laundering. Macedonian organized crime is also involved in security companies like the Bulgarian mafia, as well as with them, especially operating out of cities in eastern Macedonia, such as Štip. They are thought to have ties with the Janev Clan and the Albanian Mafia when concerning the trade of tobacco. Macedonian organized crime in Australia and Toronto, Canada is predominant among youth. Macedonian organized crime, similarly to Bulgarian, Serbian, Albanian and Russian organized crime, utilizes the concept of using security groups to protect their businesses, enforce their power and eliminate competition. These security groups are usually composed of ex military, special forces, martial artists/MMA fighters and bodybuilders. While most security groups are responsible for low level activities such as posing as nightclub bouncers(nightclubs are a Macedonian gangsters' favorite meeting and party place, along with the kafana). These security groups hide behind and operate mainly under a corporate structure, but some are more militarized than others and have been labelled as terrorist groups. It's also safe to say that the Macedonian military itself is also heavily influenced and involved in organized crime activities and is a breeding and training ground for some gangsters. Some well known and higher quality security groups usually possess Macedonia's best and most infamous enforcers, and aside having checkered backgrounds these criminals have gone to be the top ranking Macedonian politicians(presidents and prime ministers) and businessmen's personal security detail and bodyguards. They have even killed people on their behalf. Same as the above, the banking system in Macedonia heavily relies on organized crime in order to flourish, with limited foreign funding from its umbrella banks in Western European countries, it's unable to flourish on its own. It's also safe to say that some Western European, Russian and Middle Eastern banks have set up money laundering centers in Macedonia in the form of banks, companies, religious and educational institutions. Recently, a growing trend in Macedonia used by organized crime groups to launder money(because of the country's poorly organized justice and financial system and widespread political corruption it's hard for law enforcement officials to find evidence highlighting any type of illegal activities in terms of financial crimes when the Macedonian legal statues on financial crime is still heavily based on the Communist Yugoslavian one which does not apply in any way to the modern Capitalist system) is through the use of gambling institutions such as sports betting and casinos.
Macedonian Mafia - Key People
_ Marjan Tushevski (aka Bokser) (killed July 2001): head boss of the Macedonian underground. -Goran Georgievski (aka Mujo) (1969–2005) (killed April 2005): Former member of the Lions special police force. Georgievski, along with several ethnic Albanian criminals operating in the Republic of Macedonia, was listed on a black list issued by the European Union. - Nikola Mojsovski (aka Koljo) (killed July 2005): 2001 Macedonia conflict combatant who was involved in racketeering in Prilep. Head boss of the Prilep underground. - Zoran Manaskov (aka Skrseniot): The alleged leader of the Frankfurt mafia, a huge Macedonian led heroin ring operating in Germany and Austria based out of the city of Veles, Macedonia.
